Nineteen Confirmed For 2026 William Hill Hurdle

William Hill Super Saturday boasts a top-class card with entries confirmed for the William Hill Hurdle, Denman Chase, and Game Spirit Chase

Nineteen contenders remain at the confirmations stage for the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday, 7th February. Worth £155,000 in total prize money, the competitive handicap is run over two miles and is the centrepiece of a top-class card.
Paul Nicholls has twice saddled the winner of this race with Zarkandar (2012) and Pic D’Orhy (2020). This year he is responsible for the top weight Tutti Quanti, winner of the Grade 3 Coral Racing Club Intermediate Handicap Hurdle.
Strong market support has emerged for Dan Skelton’s Let It Rain, who is priced at 11/4 with sponsors William Hill after her encouraging placed effort at Ascot in December following a 387-day layoff.
Local hopes are with Warren Greatrex’s progressive six-year-old All In You, who impressed at Sandown last month when turning the tables on Anthony Honeyball’s Dance And Glance.
Other recent winners include Tom Dascombe’s Hot Fuss, who would arrive on the back of his Windsor victory at the Berkshire Winter Million meeting, Fergal O’Brien’s Serious Challenge and Un Sens A La Vie for the Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies team.
The Ben Pauling trained Lanesborough may also line up, along with the Olly Murphy trained Go Dante, who finished third in the race in 2024 and seventh in 2025.
Helnwein, Bucephalus, Wellington Arch, Faivoir, Bubble Dubi, Milldam, Wreckless Eric, Mr McLoughlan, The Hardest Geezer and Poet Laureate complete the entries.
Earlier in the afternoon, the Grade 2 William Hill Denman Chase, worth a total prize fund of £90,000, has attracted six entries. Rebecca Curtis’ Haiti Couleurs and Nicky Henderson’s Jango Baie are current 11/8 joint favourites with sponsors William Hill.
The fourth race on the card, the Grade 2 William Hill Game Spirit Chase, also run for a total prize fund of £90,000, has received nine entries. A winner of five starts and unbeaten over fences, Lulamba heads the betting at 7/4 for trainer Nicky Henderson.
