What’s on
While the racing action takes centre stage at the BetVictor Flat Finale with Oktoberfest, there’s plenty for racegoers to enjoy away from the track throughout the day.
The Dubai Duty Free Grandstand will be transformed into a Bavarian beer hall, complete with live Oompah music creating an authentic Oktoberfest atmosphere from the moment gates open. Once the final race has been run, the celebrations continue with an afterparty to round off the day’s festivities.
Keeping the Oktoberfest spirit alive throughout the afternoon will be Eva Von Schnippisch, who will be hosting the entertainment in the Grandstand. Expect sing-alongs, dance-alongs, games and plenty of interactive fun as she keeps the Bavarian celebrations in full swing.
Racegoers are also encouraged to embrace the theme by arriving in their finest lederhosen or dirndl, helping add to the festival atmosphere around the racecourse.
For those hoping to make it onto the big screen, the popular Fan Cam will be live across the racecourse throughout the afternoon. Gather your friends and family, strike a pose and you could find yourself featured as part of the raceday entertainment.
Visitors can also meet Maherlvous, Newbury Racecourse’s equine ambassador. Visiting courtesy of Greatwood Charity, the retired racehorse will be on hand to meet racegoers and offer an insight into life after racing.
For those looking to get even closer to the action, the ever-popular Trips to the Start provide a unique behind-the-scenes experience. Racegoers can accompany staff to the start and watch the horses up close as they load into the stalls before racing begins. Times for each trip will be displayed outside the jockeys’ weighing room.
As the day’s racing and Oktoberfest celebrations come to an end, racegoers can make use of a free shuttle bus service operating between the Eastern Entrance and The Post Box Sports Bar in Newbury. The shuttle will run from 4:30pm until 7:00pm.
With top-class Flat racing, authentic Oktoberfest entertainment and plenty of activities throughout the afternoon, the BetVictor Flat Finale with Oktoberfest promises a fantastic day out both on and off the track.
