Newbury Becomes Latest UK Course To Deliver Climate Data
Driven by the cloud-based TurfTrax Hub and available on the Newbury Racecourse website, participants and racing fans now have access to a full suite of data to accompany official Going Reports and the GoingMap.
Live climate information including rainfall, windspeed, air temperature, humidity, soil temperature, soil moisture and evapotranspiration readings are relayed in real-time from the on-course Weather Station and updated every 300 seconds.
Newbury Racecourse Clerk of the Course George Hill said, “We have had the equipment in place for some time and thanks to the relaunch of the Newbury Racecourse website, we now have a dedicated space where we can deliver all the essential Going and weather information conveniently on a single easy to access page.”
The Newbury launch follows the installation last week of a latest generation TurfTrax Weather Station at Meydan racecourse in Dubai, the first to be delivered to the United Arab Emirates, in time for this year’s running of the Dubai World Cup fixture.
TurfTrax Managing Director Mike Maher said, “The demand for real-time climate information from sports and leisure venues around the world continues to increase. The TurfTrax Weather Station and the software that enables its data to be delivered via almost any platform provides an ideal solution.
“In addition to helping the majority of racecourses in the UK to stay at the forefront of climate technology, we are delighted that our systems are now in use on three continents enabling a wide range of venues to deliver essential information to their customers efficiently and with minimal manual intervention.”
