Past And Present Stars To Appear On William Hill Super Saturday At Newbury Racecourse
William Hill Super Saturday returns to Newbury Racecourse on 7th February, providing the perfect opportunity to bring family and friends together and shake off the January blues with a thrilling day of top-class Jumps racing and entertainment.
Racegoers can enjoy a full programme of on and off-track activity throughout the day. Before the first race, the William Hill Punters’ Panel will take place in the parade ring with Sir AP McCoy, Barry Geraghty and David Crosse offering expert insight and lively debate ahead of the afternoon’s action.
Those booking in advance can once again take advantage of complimentary Parade Ring Tours, Trips to the Jump and Jockey Talks, led by former jockey David Crosse. These popular behind-the-scenes experiences provide a unique insight into what it takes to compete at the top level of Jumps racing.
As part of Newbury’s close partnership with Greatwood, who uses former racehorses to educate disadvantaged children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), racegoers will also have the opportunity to meet retired racehorse Mahlervous and his miniature Shetland companion, Gladys, on site before racing begins.
The Retraining of Racehorses parade returns at 2pm to showcase a stellar line-up of National Hunt legends including Native River, Dashel Drasher, Coneygree, Barbers Shop, Smad Place and Lord du Mesnil.
The William Hill Hurdle itself is on track to be a fascinating renewal. Early entries include Dan Skelton’s Let It Rain, the current 3/1 favourite with sponsors William Hill. Joe Tizzard’s Unibet Greatwood Hurdle winner Alexei remains in contention, alongside Grade 3 Coral Racing Club Intermediate Handicap Hurdle winner Tutti Quanti, trained by Paul Nicholls for owner Colm Donlon. Warren Greatrex will be hoping for a local success with the progressive six-year-old All In You following his recent Sandown victory, while Un Sens A La Vie could also feature after a recent win for the Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies team.
William Hill Super Saturday’s card also features the Grade 2 William Hill Denman Chase and Grade 2 William Hill Game Spirit Chase, both key trials for the Cheltenham Festival.
In addition to the equine-related activity, visitors can enjoy a William Hill horsebox photobooth activation, as well as the England v Wales Six Nations match, which will be
shown live on the ground floor of the Berkshire Stand. An after-party will then round off the day in style, setting the scene for what promises to be another unforgettable year of racing and entertainment at Newbury Racecourse.
