Coral Challow Hurdle Welcomes Bumper Crowd As 10,000 Racegoers Enjoy Family-Friendly Day

A big crowd – 48% up on 2023 – descended on Newbury Racecourse for Coral Challow Hurdle Day as 2025 rounds out

Newbury Racecourse are pleased to report that 9,983 racegoers attended today’s Coral Challow Hurdle Day.

The day’s feature race, the Grade 1 £100,000 Coral Challow Hurdle, was won impressively by the Dan Skelton-trained The New Lion as Wendigo – the Racing Club horse that 2025 Newbury Members have been able to claim a free share in – finished second.

Today’s attendance marks a 48% year-on-year increase on 2023 and comes after the Racecourse’s highlight jumps meeting – the Coral Gold Cup – saw a 12% year-on-year increase last month.

Tickets and hospitality experiences are on-sale for 2025’s action with racegoers encouraged to get in sooner rather than later to guarantee the best deal for next year’s racing.
