Confirmed Runners And Riders For The 2026 Goffs Hundred Grand Bumper
Twenty runners have been declared for the Goffs Hundred Grand Bumper at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 21 March. The 2m½f contest, restricted to horses sold at the 2024–2025 Goffs UK Doncaster Spring Sales, is worth an increased total prize fund of £111,004 due to an excess of entry stakes.
Leading trainer Dan Skelton, who captured the race last year with Kadastral, returns with a strong hand as he bids to land the prize once again. Skelton is set to saddle two runners in Diamond Street and The Mad Poet, as he looks to further extend his lead in the Trainers’ Championship.
Diamond Street heads the market following an impressive debut under Rules at Doncaster in January, where he cruised to a commanding 10-length victory. He will be partnered by stable jockey Harry Skelton on Saturday.
Local trainers are also well represented. Harry Derham saddles Lover Desbois, who opened his account at the second time of asking with a win at Kempton last month. Meanwhile, Nicky Henderson will be hoping to go one better with Madam Speaker after her second place at Wincanton just three weeks ago.
Another notable contender is Bailly’s Comet from the yard of Anthony Honeyball, with Harry Cobden booked to ride. The gelding made a winning debut in November 2025 before finishing a promising third in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.
The remainder of the field features a mixture of raced and unraced horses, adding an element of the unknown to this competitive looking contest.
