Summer Evening Series Brings Record Crowd

Record Crowd Brings Newbury Racecourse’s Summer Evening Series With Hits Radio To A Spectacular Close

More than 5,800 racegoers enjoyed last Thursday’s Ibiza Beach Club raceday as numerous Summer Evening Series attendance records are broken

Newbury Racecourse welcomed a record crowd to its Ibiza Beach Club raceday on Thursday evening, bringing this year’s popular Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio to a memorable close.

More than 5,800 racegoers enjoyed an evening of competitive racing alongside the vibrant Ibiza Beach Club afterparty, making it the most well attended Summer Evening Series fixture ever staged at the Racecourse.

The evening also highlighted Newbury Racecourse’s commitment to supporting the local community, with more than 750 people affected by the recent Englefield Estate event cancellations taking up the Racecourse’s offer of complimentary tickets. The initiative was well received and ensured hundreds of local residents were still able to enjoy a summer evening of live entertainment.

This year’s Summer Evening Series, which featured a variety of themed experiences, including the ever-popular 70s Disco night, the Wild Wild West raceday and Thursday’s Ibiza Beach Club finale, also proved more popular than ever with a record number of local residents attending across the three-raceday series. Those living locally were entitled to super-discounted £10 tickets and attendance from local postcodes increased by 70% compared to last year, reflecting the growing appeal of the Racecourse’s offering to those living in its immediate vicinity.

Harry Walklin, Marketing Director at Newbury Racecourse, said: ‘’Our Summer Evening Series with Hits Radio continues to grow in popularity, and it was fantastic to welcome so many fans to the series finale last week.

It was particularly pleasing to see so many of those living locally and those affected by recent event cancellations take us up on our discounted and free ticket promotions as we continue our efforts to ensure our racing experiences are as accessible as possible.’’

While the Summer Evening Series has now concluded for another year, Newbury Racecourse’s summer of music continues. Following performances from Ronan Keating and Gipsy Kings in July, the Racecourse will see Jessie J and Tinie Tempah take to the stage at Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend in August.
