Jockeys To Go Head-To-Head For Dream Holiday

Jockeys To Go Head-To-Head For Dream Holiday Ahead Of The Visit Malta Hungerford Stakes

Newbury Racecourse and Visit Malta team up to give jockeys and racegoers the chance to win an unforgettable holiday to the Maltese Islands

Newbury Racecourse is excited to announce that all jockeys competing in the £165,000 Group 2 Visit Malta Hungerford Stakes will have the chance to swap the track for the Maltese sunshine, with every rider entered into a draw to win a dream holiday to Malta, courtesy of Visit Malta.

The exclusive prize draw, delivered in collaboration with the Under Jockeys’ Orders initiative, will be conducted by the High Commissioner of Malta in the Parade Ring ahead of Saturday’s feature race, which is scheduled for 3:10pm.

The Visit Malta Hungerford Stakes is a prestigious seven-furlong contest that has drawn many of the sport’s leading jockeys over the years and this year’s renewal should be no different. Holding the current record for the most wins in the race is Former Champion Jockey Frankie Dettori, who triumphed a total of six times. However, being first past the post will not be necessary to secure this particular prize.

Adam McNamara, Senior Racing Executive at the Professional Jockeys Association, commented: “The PJA is delighted to be supporting Under Jockeys’ Orders at Newbury once again, showcasing our top talent and giving racegoers the opportunity to connect with jockeys on raceday. We are incredibly grateful to Visit Malta for providing a wonderful opportunity for one of our jockeys to get in a well deserved holiday.”

The jockeys’ prize forms part of Visit Malta’s wider partnership with Newbury Racecourse, with racegoers also being given the opportunity to win their own dream holiday to the Maltese Islands during Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August.

The weekend promises plenty of entertainment on and off the track, with both Friday and Saturday doubling up as Party in the Paddock music racedays, featuring live performances to round off the racing. Brit Award-winning rapper and cultural icon Tinie Tempah will take to the stage on Friday 14 August, before multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jessie J performs live after racing on Saturday 15 August.
