Supporting Castle School’s World of Work Programme
As the new school year gets underway at Castle School, so too does its World of Work programme, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on workplace experience, develop valuable skills, build confidence and meet new people in real working environments.
As a partner of Castle School, Newbury Racecourse recently welcomed students for an afternoon on a raceday, where they assisted with scanning tickets and welcoming racegoers as they arrived at the venue.
In addition, one student spent the morning in the racecourse stables alongside Stable Manager, Pippa Eygelsheim. The placement provided an insight into life behind the scenes, learning what goes into preparing and maintaining the stables following a raceday. Tasks included mucking out, thoroughly cleaning stable areas and ensuring facilities meet the high standards required under BHA guidelines.
Newbury Racecourse is proud to be one of many local organisations supporting Castle School’s World of Work initiative, alongside businesses including Donnington & Co and Collard Environmental.
The programme plays an important role in helping students develop practical skills, gain confidence and explore potential career opportunities within their local community.
