53 Entered For Super Saturday’s Feature Race
The £155,000 Newbury Hurdle on Super Saturday, 8 February, has attracted 53 early entries including one Irish entry from the Gordon Elliott yard. Entries received today are the highest number since 2018 when the race saw 54 early entries.
Featured amongst the 53 strong entries include last year’s winner, Iberico Lord for trainer Nicky Henderson and owner J.P. McManus who also have Impoise Toi and Joyeuse entered. Lump Sum and Steel Ally, the winner and runner up of the 2024 Welsh Champion Hurdle both hold entries from the Sam Thomas yard.
The Cheltenham Festival winning mare, Golden Ace also features amongst the entries along with the James Owen trained Greatwood Handicap Hurdle winner, Burdett Road.
Local trainer Harry Derham has entered eight in this year’s renewal including Elite Hurdle runner up, Brentford Hope and the Gerry Feilden runner up, Queens Gamble, as well as Givemefive who provided the young trainer with his first Cheltenham winner.
