Night Porter
The Lodge is a 36-room hotel set in the award-winning sporting venue of Newbury Racecourse. It offers outstanding accommodation to stable staff on and around race-days, and to the public for the remainder of the year.
We are currently seeking a Night Porter to join our friendly team. This is a position of responsibility taking care of the hotel during the night, ensuring the hotel meets and exceeds customer expectations whilst maintaining agreed standards of service. We welcome full-time and part-time working applications.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
• Greeting late arrivals, answering queries, helping to resolve any issues and providing exceptional assistance and service to our guests during night-time hours
• Assisting with food service and operating the on-site bar as and when required
• Receiving and processing telephone and walk in reservations accurately to ensure guest satisfaction
• Carrying out other administrative and reception duties that may be required
• Participating in night cleaning schedules as directed by the Hotel Manager
• Compliance with all health and safety, food hygiene and fire safety regulations
• Ensuring the security of the hotel during night-time hours
The successful candidate will:
• Be self-motivated and able to use their initiative
• Possess excellent communication skills and work well within a team
• Exercise sound judgement and be happy to work unsupervised
• Possess excellent IT and organisational skills
Previous work experience in a similar role within the hospitality, catering or sporting industries would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided. This role is likely to include hours of work during weekends on a rota basis.

Senior Assistant Duty Manager (Maternity Cover)
The Lodge is a 36 room hotel set in the award-winning sporting venue of Newbury Racecourse. It offers outstanding accommodation to stable staff on and around race-days, and to the public for the remainder of the year.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Assistant Duty Manager to report into the Hotel Manager and take a lead role in the day-to-day operation and management of The Lodge, ensuring the hotel meets and exceeds agreed targets for customer satisfaction and revenue. This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic individual to play a central role in the growth and success of a small, contemporary hotel. This is a maternity cover vacancy and as such the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis, anticipated to last until April 2027.
This is a varied hands-on position and responsibilities will include, amongst others:
• Supporting the Hotel Manager with effectively managing a small team in line with business objectives and budgets, including managing the rota system and carrying out daily briefings/handovers as required
• Greeting guests on arrival and providing exceptional service throughout their stay
• Ensuring the property and surrounding areas are prepared for the arrival of guests
• Ensuring bedrooms are inspected on a daily basis and kept up to standards
• Assisting with food service and operating the on-site bar as and when required
• Ensuring that all agreed quality standards are adhered to and implementing a regular programme of review
• Ensuring stock within the business is managed to the agreed levels
• Taking responsibility for compliance with all health and safety, food hygiene and fire safety regulations, including arranging staff training
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, with excellent communication and customer service skills and the confidence necessary to act as an ambassador for The Lodge and the racecourse.
You will be able to use your initiative, exercise sound judgment and work unsupervised. Previous work experience in a similar role within the hospitality, catering or sporting industries will be essential, as will excellent IT skills and confidence with MS Office programs.

Marketing Executive
Newbury Racecourse is an award-winning sporting venue with a multi-functional site playing host to c. 30 racedays per year, plus a wide range of other exciting non-racing events including: concerts, weddings, conferences, on-site hotel and our award-winning Rocking Horse Nursery.
We are seeking a part time (15 hours per week) Marketing Executive to join our friendly Marketing Team and assist in the planning and delivery of non-racing marketing campaigns and activity including Conference & Events (C&E), The Lodge Hotel and Rocking Horse Nursery.
The successful candidate in this role will:
- Work closely with the C&E, Lodge Hotel and Rocking Horse Nursery teams to ensure effective delivery of marketing campaigns
- Monitor and report on the performance of the Racecourse’s non-racing marketing activity
- Assist in maximising data capture opportunities across all of Newbury Racecourse’s non-racing touchpoints and the delivery of GDPR compliance
- Assist in the delivery of guest and visitor experience programmes and initiatives at non-racing events
- Assist in the development and maintenance of marketing collateral, both physical and digital
- Assist in the upkeep and optimisation of website and digital/online marketing-related content
- Work closely with Newbury Racecourse’s social and content team to ensure a regular flow of engaging non-racing content
- Help identify, agree and deliver third party marketing partnerships to extend reach, collect data and raise awareness
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a comparable role within marketing
- Excellent writing and proofing skills, as well as a very keen eye for detail
- Innovation and imagination; capable of generating ideas and creating engaging content
- Motivation and enthusiasm, for both the position and the Racecourse
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- A positive, proactive attitude
