THE FESTIVE SEASON STARTS AT NEWBURY RACECOURSE: THE COUNTDOWN IS ON TO THE CORAL GOLD CUP AND THE GREAT CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL

The countdown is on to the Coral Gold Cup Meeting at Newbury Racecourse on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 November and promises to be two-days of brilliant racing action PLUS the start of the festive season with the opening of the inaugural Great Christmas Carnival.

Don’t miss two days of fantastic action on and off the course, featuring the £250,000 Coral Gold Cup, familiarly known as the Hennessy Gold Cup and more recently the Ladbrokes Trophy which is run over the distance of 3miles and 2 furlongs and has been won by many great horses in the past including, Arkle, Suny Bay, Denman, Many Clouds, Native River and most recently, Cloudy Glen.

For the racing fans, don’t miss out on our Trips to a Fence and Behind the Scenes Tour with a Punters Panel before racing with top tipsters to help you find a winner. Our Gold Cup Marquee will have live music throughout the day and make sure you try out Coral’s immersive VR experience of being a jockey with your friends, with a chance to win a range of VIP prizes. The Injured Jockeys Fund will back in their usual spot with all the essential Christmas gifts on offer, including charity Christmas cards, calendars, socks and festive baubles and will be positioned outside the Weighing Room.

Don’t miss the after-party following the racing on both days which will take place in in the Gold Cup Marquee with resident DJ Moonraker playing after racing until 6pm on Friday and then big band 29 Fingers will return on Saturday 26 November with brilliant live tunes until 6pm.

This is always Berkshire’s big day and out which signals the start of the festive season and it is even more exciting this year with the launch of the Great Christmas Carnival which all our racegoers will be able to access throughout the day, giving them an exclusive preview of everything on offer.

“Due to the planned national rail strike on Saturday, we are advising all our racegoers to plan their journeys well in advance and allow plenty of time to get here. We have ample car parking and cars can be left overnight. There will also be a free shuttle service taking customers into the centre of Newbury after the racing on both days and we advise anyone on planning on getting a taxi home to pre-book it in advance.”

EXCLUSIVE ACCESS FOR RACEGOERS TO THE GREAT CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL

All Coral Gold Cup ticketholders will receive access into the Great Christmas Carnival in the centre of the course from 10am until 6pm on both Friday 25 & Saturday 26 November, as an exclusive preview ahead of the public opening on Sunday 27 November 2022.

The Great Christmas Carnival is on-track to be the biggest Christmas event in the South this year, and it includes and ice-rink, Santa’s Grotto, Circus in the Big Top, The Greatest Hits Big Wheel. There will also be more than 20 games and rides for all the family to enjoy, accompanied by a Christmas market with a great food and drink offering. Racegoers will can also purchase future tickets from the on-site box office, which is located next to the Gold Cup Marquee.

RACEGOERS ENCOURAGED TO PRE-PLAN TRAVEL DUE TO NATIONAL RAIL STRIKES

With national rail strikes scheduled for Saturday 26 November, this unfortunately means there is no service across GWR and trains will not be operational at Newbury/Newbury Racecourse train station. Newbury Racecourse apologies for the inconvenience this strike may cause and we ask all our racegoers to plan their journey well in advance. We do offer free on-site parking and vehicles can be left overnight. There will also be a complimentary shuttle service into Newbury town-centre from 16:30 running from the Eastern Entrance to Newbury Coach Station until 19:30 across both days.
