IT Systems Technician

Newbury Racecourse is an award-winning sporting venue with a multi-functional site playing host to c. 30 racedays per year, plus a wide range of other exciting events including concerts, weddings and exhibitions. In 2019 we will deliver over 200 event days; these include raceday concerts from Sir Tom Jones and Madness, the Al Shaqab Lockinge and the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival.

An opportunity has now arisen for an IT Systems Technician to join our team. Reporting into the IT Business Operations Manager, you will help ensure the provision of a highly efficient and reliable IT network service for all staff and visitors to Newbury Racecourse.

This is a varied role and duties will include:
• The creation, maintenance and upkeep of broadcasting SSIDs.
• The configuration of network clients, including the allocation of the necessary software.
• Installing and testing peripherals.
• Maintaining user accounts and permissions.
• Installing and maintaining standard network cabling.
• Monitoring and reporting the network health status; then resolving issues if required.
• Following extended maintenance procedures according to a defined schedule.
• Recording, retrieving and maintaining information in the asset management database.
• Performing diagnostics and recovery routines on infrastructure and end user equipment.
• Supporting the implementation of any new solutions or technologies.
• Assisting with the management of the IT Service Helpdesk.
• Performing PC hardware repairs and upgrades.
• Diagnosing and resolving PC, printer, peripheral and software faults.
• Providing Audio/Visual support to staff and clients.
• Adhering to the ICT Acceptable Use Policy and giving guidance to others.
• Performing IT support on Newbury Race Event Days and for Conference and Hospitality events
• Establishing constructive relationships and communicating with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with the Business Systems Manager, to deliver the aims of the Racecourse business.
• Documenting and distributing support material for staff and customers, including help sheets.
• Training new and current users on software and equipment.

You will need to be ambitious and proactive, with enthusiasm for both the role and the racecourse, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure. IT qualifications or prior experience in an IT environment would be an advantage, though not essential as hands-on training will be provided. This excellent opportunity offers the chance to gain ‘real-world’ IT skills and experience within an exciting industry, and therefore may suit you if you have recently graduated or qualified from a related course and are now looking to begin or progress a new career within IT support.

Racing Sales Manager

We are now seeking an experienced Racing Sales Manager to maximise racing sales through personal sales activity and outstanding leadership of the racing sales team and to deliver an exceptional customer journey for all our racing guests.

The successful candidate in this role will;
• Work with the Director of Marcomms and Sponsorship to develop sales opportunities, sales initiatives & targeted campaigns to deliver sales growth
• Manage and develop the internal racing sales team through effective delegation, coaching and mentoring
• Achieve monthly revenue targets and individual sales KPI’s
• Create, manage and develop relationships with key individuals, corporates and booking agents to maximise the delivery of profitable business
• Conduct competitor and lost business analysis and make recommendations to Director of Marcomms and Sponsorship to address any specific trends
• Chair the Weekly and Monthly Racing Sales Team Meetings to ensure proactive sales activity is taking place as planned
• Manage the sales database – ensuring it contains accurate records to allow for marketing and account management activity
• Agree and implement the annual pricing and discount strategies with the Director of Marcomms and Sponsorship

You will be able to demonstrate:
• Significant sales experience with a track record of delivering outstanding sales growth
• Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of selling and sales management
• The ability to lead and inspire a team to over achieve sales targets
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills combined with a flair for customer interaction
• Motivation and enthusiasm, for both the position and the Racecourse
• Comprehensive understanding of budgets, forecasting and associated deliverables

Finance Director

Newbury Racecourse PLC is an award-winning sporting, leisure and entertainment business, traded on NEX. Based in West Berkshire this multi-functional site plays host to c. 30 racedays per year plus a wide range of public, corporate and private events. In addition, the racecourse operates a 120+ place children’s nursery, a 36-bedroom Hotel and its own catering business. In a partnership with David Wilson Homes the racecourse is in the process of developing 1500 homes on the estate and has reinvested over £20M in upgrading its facilities to the benefit of all customer groups. With ambitious plans for further development of the business, an opportunity has now arisen for a Finance Director.

Acting as Business Partner to the Chief Executive, this is a Board level position representing an exceptional opportunity for an individual with significant commercial experience to join the senior management team and help lead the future of the racecourse.

Setting the financial strategy in line with the objectives of the Board, including continuing growth, the Finance Director will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management and operation of the finance function.

This is a full-time opportunity for a dynamic individual with integrity, a commercial strategic focus and exceptional financial astuteness. An appreciation of racing is advantageous but not a pre-requisite, and we are open to considering applications from those with transferable skills.
