The Drinks are on us if Rooney scores first against Costa Rica

The racecourse will buy everyone a drink at Pump Technology Race Evening on Tuesday, 24th June if Wayne Rooney scores the first goal*

The racecourse will be showing the entirety of the England v Costa Rica World Cup game at Evening Racing on Tuesday, 24th June.

And fans will be hoping for an improved showing from Wayne Rooney as the racecourse has pledged to buy all racegoers a drink should he open the scoring*.

While England are favourites to beat Uruguay this Thursday, they will most likely need to also triumph over the Central Americans in Belo Horizonte to qualify from Group D.

Newbury is determined that England fans won’t miss a minute of the action at their raceday next Tuesday. It’s the track’s first midweek evening meeting of the year and a big screen, as well as TVs around the course, will show the Three Lions match.

The gates open at 4pm with the big kick-off in Brazil at 5pm and the first of the seven races off at 5.50pm.

Julian Thick, CEO at Newbury Racecourse, said: “There aren’t many better ways to enjoy a summer evening than watching an exciting England match as well as some top racing on the track, so why not combine the two and join us next Tuesday?

“We’ll be cheering Roy Hodgson’s men on and if Wayne Rooney opens the scoring, the drinks are on us!”
