Start this summer in style at the Al Shaqab Lockinge with Ladies Day, on Saturday 18 May 2019 at Newbury Racecourse for an unforgettable day out at the races.

Always a day which kicks off the summer season, top quality action on the course will be rivalled by fantastic entertainment and a thrilling atmosphere as the Flat season moves into top gear. The introduction of the new Rhododendron Garden and stage in association with Parkway Shopping will be a hive of activity, with pop-up bars, ample seating and live music throughout the afternoon, as well as this year’s Style Awards.  Open to everyone, entrants will have the opportunity to win an all-inclusive holiday to Qatar, courtesy of sponsors Al Shaqab as well as plenty of other prizes.

The star attraction of the afternoon, the Group 1 Al Shaqab Lockinge run over a straight mile and worth an impressive £350,000 in prizemoney. Won by some great horses in the past including the legendary Frankel and Ribchester, last year’s winner Rhododendron was the first filly to win the race since 2004. 

The new Photo Finish Marquee, in association with Parkway Shopping Newbury, will ensure that all racegoers are photo ready and looking their best all day long, with make-up and hair touch ups, and a place to rest tired feet while enjoying a reenergising foot massage from the Therapy for Good team.

After racing, dance the night away to the world-famous Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her husband Richard Jones, who will play a truly dance-worthy 90-minute DJ set.
