Newbury Racecourse wins RCA Showcase Award for Best Campaign

Newbury Racecourse has won the much coveted Best Campaign Award at the annual Racecourse Association Showcase & Awards event.

The RCA Showcase & Awards, partnered for the first time in 2016 by Moët Hennessy and held at Doncaster Racecourse, celebrates excellence and innovation across the raceday experience.

The Best Campaign Award celebrates excellence in the marketing sphere with judges looking for campaigns that have increased the appeal of racing to new audiences and improved the frequency of visits amongst customers.

Newbury Racecourse’s Al Shaqab Lockinge Day 2016 ‘Best Day Out by a Mile’ Campaign impressed judges through its innovative use of traditional media, digital and other activity. The engagement of the local community was particularly impressive with the life size cut-out of Frankie Dettori proving especially popular.

Maggie Carver, Racecourse Association Chairman, said: “All of the winners tonight have shown an exceptional commitment to providing outstanding customer experiences at their racecourse. It’s really pleasing to see such a wide range of racecourses winning awards, highlighting the huge variety of raceday experiences available across our sport.

“Well done to the winners and I’m very pleased for the team at Newbury Racecourse who have clearly shown the very best in excellence and innovation throughout the year.”

Julian Thick, Chief Executive of Newbury Racecourse, commented: “We are delighted to have won an RCA Showcase Award.

“Al Shaqab Lockinge Day is the highlight of our Flat season and to win Best Campaign against such stiff competition from other racecourses is testament to the hard work put in by the Newbury team.”
