Newbury Racecourse stepping up to Sport Relief’s Billion Steps Challenge with course walk

With Sport Relief’s Billion Steps Challenge starting today, Newbury Racecourse will be supporting horseracing’s efforts with a racecourse walk ahead of their penultimate jumps fixture, on Friday 23 March 2018, The Be Wiser Jumps Season Finale.

Racegoers, Annual Members and anyone wishing to get involved and support Sport Relief are invited to walk around the inside perimeter of the Racecourse on Friday 23 March ahead of a competitive afternoon of racing. The walk will commence from the official start of the Ladbrokes Trophy course and is a one and a half-mile journey to the finish line.

Anyone wishing to take part is asked to arrive at the racecourse no later than 11.30am and enter via Car Park 1. The walk will begin at 11.45am promptly and all those walking will have to be clear of the course by 1pm. Individuals are advised to wear suitable footwear and warm clothing for the walk.

To start tracking your steps, download the Sports Relief app and join the Great British Racing league to help Sport Relief reach a billion steps a day between 17-23 March 2018. The app can be downloaded by visiting https://app.sportrelief.com/welcome?corpId=greatbritishracing.

There will be tickets available for purchase on the gate for anyone wishing to attend the afternoon’s racing. Those individuals with tickets already will be able to gain access to the course on completion of the walk.
