In support of National Racehorse Week 2023, we headed to one of our local yards to get an insight into what goes on behind the scenes of a working race yard.

NRW is a great initiative to champion the animals that make racing possible and to see first hand the love, care and attention that goes into looking after them.

Nicky Henderson is the trainer at Seven Barrows and we had the pleasure of interviewing him and a few members of his staff to find out why National Racehorse Week is so important. Some top horses were on display, including Shishkin, Jonbon, Champ, Luccia and Constitution Hill.

Thoroughbreds are a very versatile breed and retired racehorses go on to new careers including eventing, showing, or even polo!
