Invitation from Newbury Racecourse to the yard of Henry Candy to see Limato on Tuesday, May 15 ahead of the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes

Newbury Racecourse requests the pleasure of your company on Tuesday, May 15 (7.15am for a 7.30am start), for a media stable visit to the yard of Henry Candy ahead of the 60th running of the G1 Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, staged on Al Shaqab Lockinge Day, Saturday, May 19.

Candy is set to be represented in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, run over Newbury’s straight mile, by Limato. The popular six-year-old is a dual G1 winner, having landed the six-furlong Darley July Cup at Newmarket and the seven-furlong Qatar Prix de la Foret at Chantilly in 2016.

Limato finished fourth in the 2016 renewal of the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, which is the second leg of the Mile division of QIPCO British Champions Series and has been won by some outstanding performers in recent years including Frankel, Canford Cliffs, Farhh and Ribchester.

Limato’s first experience of Newbury Racecourse was a winning one, when successful in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes – Sponsored By Compton Beauchamp Estates Ltd over six furlongs in July, 2014.

Owned by Paul Jacobs, Limato was last seen in action when ending 2017 with victory in the G2 Challenge Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket in October.

The timings for Tuesday, May 15 at Henry Candy’s stables will be as follows:

7.40am – Limato to work on the gallops.

8.30am onwards – Henry Candy available for interview.

Camera crews and photographers are most welcome to attend. Camera crews and photographers wishing to attend should arrive by 7.15am.
