BetVictor January Raceday | Recap

There was lots of great action today for our first raceday of the year, the BetVictor January Raceday.

Today also marked our first fixture covered by Sky Sports Racing. Spirits were high and with some great interviews captured by racing presenter Matt Chapman, Newbury are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with both At The Races and Sky Sports Racing.

Some thrilling racing entertainment went on throughout the day:

Be Aware snatched the first victory of the day in Division I of the BetVictor Maiden Hurdle, making his first run a winning one for trainer Dan Skelton.

Abuffalosoldier performed smartly under James Bowen, despite carrying top weight of 12st, in the Remembering Bob Olney Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase. This was his second win at Newbury for trainer Warren Greatrex.

Gaye Legacy looks a very smart hurdler for trainer Tom Symonds, who after winning the Ray Dalfsen Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, has achieved no worse than third place from seven starts.

Issar D’airy was another repeat Newbury winner, taking the £20,000 Download The BetVictor App Handicap Steeple Chase. That’s two from two wins over chase fences, a statistic that trainer Gary Moore must be pleased about.

Thank you to all who attended, we hope you enjoyed a lovely day. Below are the list of winners from today.
