April Newsletter

We’d like to welcome you to the April edition of our Newbury Newsletter where you can keep up to date with everything going on here at the racecourse, plus the latest on all the exciting events we have lined up this month.

LOOKING BACK

Our 2018/19 jumps season has now come to an end. We have enjoyed more incredible performances and lots of memorable moments, from La Bague Au Roi winning her debut over fences, to Sizing Tennessee leading home a 1-2 in the Ladbrokes Trophy for Colin Tizzard, this season has been full of top class victories. Some of the highlights included a stand-out win by Champ in the Grade 1 Betway Challow Hurdle, whilst San Benedeto provided Paul Nicholls with a record ninth William Hill Supporting Greatwood Gold Cup.

Away from the track, we have been treated to some memorable moments, one of which came last weekend when Noel Fehily rode the final race of his career. There was a fairy-tale ending as Noel, who has ridden over 1,300 winners, provided the connections of Get In The Queue with one last winner.

THIS MONTH

Coming up on Friday 12 & Saturday 13 April, we will be launching the 2019 Flat season here at Newbury with the return of the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Weekend. Two outstanding days of racing are centred around Saturday’s Watership Down Stud Greenham Stakes, a key trial for the 2,000 Guineas, where we could see Champion Two-Year Old, Too Darn Hot, have his first run of the season.

Come and explore the new site, with a fantastic atmosphere and live music plus our annual Beer & Cider festival featuring over 20 local breweries, there is plenty for you to enjoy. To get you excited, we spoke to our Bars and Cellars Manager Steve Snarey about what it is like to work at Newbury.

HOSPITALITY FOCUS

For every raceday we have a variety of hospitality and dining options available, designed to suit each individual need. Both our restaurants offer stunning views of the course, with The Racegoers overlooking the finishing straight and The Hennessy set high above the winning post. Likewise, our hospitality boxes can offer you and your guests the chance to enjoy the races in style. Ladies Day returns on Saturday 18 May where style meets top racing, followed by an after-party hosted by Me and Mrs Jones, starring Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
