Eight Declared For Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes

Following 39mm of rain on Wednesday evening and official going changing to heavy, eight have been declared to run in Saturday’s Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes.

A recent purchase by Wathnan Racing, Mister Sketch appears to be an exciting prospect for the Eve Johnson Houghton yard. The son of Territories is declared to be ridden by Charlie Bishop who has partnered him in his two previous starts. An impressive 9 ½ length winner at Salisbury, Bishop is looking forward to stepping him up to Group company, “He has improved since his run at Salisbury so hopefully he can put up a good account. The ground is a bit of an unknown, he ran well on good to soft ground at Newbury on his debut. He is in great form and looks to have lot of potential so hopefully he can fulfil that and go close on Saturday.”

Richard Hannon’s Vintage Stakes winner Haatem, the son of Phoenix of Spain has twice been placed in Group 2 company over 7 furlongs. Rated 104, he drops back in trip for Saturday’s feature race having previously won over 5 ½ furlongs.

Seven Questions (G.Scott) and Red Zone Hero (M.Bell) are two supplemented entries declared to run on Saturday. Seven Questions has been very consistent throughout the season, winning over both 5f and 6f. He was a beaten a head in his sole start in Group company in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes. Having won on soft ground and good-to-firm, he looks to be a versatile sort. Red Zone Hero was an impressive winner last time out at Doncaster over 6f on soft ground. He steps up in class for Saturday’s Group 2 contest, but connections are relishing the opportunity.

The Andrew Balding yard is set to be represented by Array and Spanish Phoenix. Yet to finish out of the first three in all four previous starts, Array was last seen finishing ¾ lengths third behind Starlust and Seven Questions in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton. The Juddmonte owned son of No Nay Never is to be ridden by Oisin Murphy. Spanish Phoenix, a winner over 5 furlongs back in April has been well beaten in all three previous starts in Group 2 company.

Matters Most (R.Beckett), a dual winner over 5f and 6f is set to step in to Group company for the first time on Saturday. Second behind Task Force in his latest start in the Champion Two Yrs Old Trophy Stakes (Listed Race), he could provide first season sire Advertise with his first Group winner.

The field is completed by Roman Emperor (J. Ryan). He is only having his second start having been gelded following a third-place finish in a maiden at Newbury back in June.
