Newbury Racecourse Win Racing Post Readers’ Award & Named Racecourse Groundstaff Champion At 2025 RCA Showcase Awards
Newbury Racecourse has been announced as the winner of the Racing Post Readers’ Award and named Racecourse Groundstaff Champion at the 2025 Racecourse Association (RCA) Showcase Awards.
The RCA Showcase Awards represent the best of British racecourses and celebrate the successes and new initiatives introduced across the country over the past 12 months.
Newbury’s triumph in the Racing Post Readers’ Award – the only RCA Showcase Award open to 100% public vote – confirms their place as the racegoers’ choice for 2025. The highly coveted award is selected entirely by the racing public and is based on customer service, value for money and overall raceday experience.
Shaun Hinds, Chief Executive at Newbury Racecourse, expressed his delight at receiving the award: “Over the last year we have worked hard to improve all aspects of our customer offer. We’ve made racing more affordable through our ticketing and pricing strategy; we’ve enhanced all areas of our hospitality offer from General Admission through to our premium Hennessy fine dining restaurant and all the while maintained a resolute focus on ensuring we’ve delivered the best possible racing environment. The awards are a fantastic acknowledgment of the efforts all our team has made in the face of such high calibre competition.”
Confirmation of the Racecourse’s selection as the public’s favourite wasn’t the only success of the evening with Newbury named Racecourse Groundstaff Champion. Having already been named best dual-purpose racecourse ahead of the RCA Showcase Awards, an independent agronomist confirmed Newbury as the overall Champion following a detailed visit which included a Performance Quality Standard (PQS) turf management assessment.
George Hill, Racing Director & Clerk of the Course at Newbury Racecourse, commented: “The work of our grounds team is relentless, and I am incredibly proud that their enthusiasm for the role and commitment to Newbury Racecourse has been recognised on this scale. We race 31 times over two tracks, with Grade and Group One action, and this takes genuine skill and a significant amount of planning. We are truly thrilled to be named Champion Groundstaff for 2025.”
It was nearly a treble for Newbury with the Racecourse’s brand-new no and low alcohol lounge, Bar None, receiving a commendation in the Food & Beverage category, as the winners of the 2025 RCA Showcase Awards were announced during a reception at York Racecourse on Thursday 13th November.

The recognition comes towards the end of a successful year for Newbury with the Racecourse reporting bumper attendances with its feature Jumps meeting – the Coral Gold Cup – just a fortnight away.
Discounted tickets for the two-day meeting are available until 11:59pm on Friday 21st November, while tickets for 2026’s action are now on general sale with all racedays available for less than 2025 as Newbury continues its commitment to making its racing experiences as accessible as possible.
