Over 1,200 Locals Enjoy Complimentary Tickets To The Opening Day Of Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials

Newbury Racecourse’s Flat season got underway in style with big crowds as Dubai Duty Free celebrate 30th year of partnership

The Flat season got underway at Newbury Racecourse this weekend with the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials meeting and big crowds were treated to two days of sun-soaked action with attendance across the weekend up 42% on 2024.

The Classic trials saw an impressive victory from Duty First in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes (registered as the Fred Darling Stakes) and Jonquil in the Watership Down Stud Too Darn Hot Greenham Stakes.

Of the 5,197 fans who attended on Friday 11th April – enjoying the impressive performance by the William Haggas trained Consecrated – more than 1,200 racegoers attended courtesy of a free ticket initiative which saw the Racecourse offer those who reside in the postcode areas RG7, RG14, RG17, RG18, RG19, RG20 and RG26 the opportunity to claim a pair of complimentary tickets.

Following Friday’s promotion, further offers are available to those living locally throughout 2025, with super-discounted £10 tickets available for a number of racedays:

· Summer Evening Series with The 70s Disco – Thursday 3rd July

· Summer Evening Series with The Wild Wild West – Thursday 10th July

· Summer Evening Series with The Ibiza Beach Club – Thursday 24th July

· BetVictor Flat Finale with Oktoberfest – Friday 24th October

· BetVictor Christmas Raceday – Wednesday 17th December

Shaun Hinds, Chief Executive Officer at Newbury Racecourse, commented: “We introduced these new initiatives for our neighbours to help make the racing at Newbury as accessible and affordable as possible. It was fantastic to see such a big crowd on Friday and knowing we had so many local residents enjoying a day’s racing for free was very pleasing and I hope we can welcome those who joined us back for future meetings.”

The Flat action continues at Newbury with the BoyleSports Lockinge with Ladies Day – on Saturday 17th May – a particular highlight before the Racecourse’s huge summer of music gets underway in July. Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ella Henderson, Bjorn Again, Clean Bandit and James Bay will all take to the stage at Newbury with discounted Early Bird tickets available via the button below.
