Getting ready for Ladies Day…
The office is buzzing and has been for the past week – Ladies Day is nearly upon us and its getting exciting! Champagne ordered and tickets posted. Dealing with menus, flower arrangements and even popstars! The countdown has well and truly begun.
Ladies Day of course, is an opportunity for the more excitable among us to start delving deep into our wardrobes looking for the ‘perfect belt’ or indeed heading down to the local shopping centre, like myself and our stylist did last week! Sent off to Parkway in Newbury with a task of finding outfits to suggest to our followers on social media, Kate and I were in our element! She said she didn’t know if she could resist the temptation, I unfortunately couldn’t! On Friday we went back again, (once is never enough) to showcase ways in which to wear your hats and hairstyles – obviously that was a great ‘job’!
I’m not just excited to see the style that our racegoers can produce for Ladies Day though. It will be the conclusion of a project that I started weeks ago. I was asked on my very first day to come up with something special to promote women in sport to tie in with Ladies Day. I am going to be hosting several very talented and impressive female sportswomen in the Royal Box to recognise them in all their achievements. I’m really looking forward to meeting them. I love watching other sport and it’s going to be such a wonderful day looking after them and introducing them to mine.
I’ve been to a lot of summer flat racing festivals but I have to say that Newbury put on an amazing show that really is to be commended. There’s so much on for our racegoers during the day – a pamper zone, live band on the lawns and even wandering masseurs. If I had got within 5 miles of a masseur in some of the shoes I wear to the races I’d have thought I was blessed!!! I’m not sure I’ll ever hear the phrase ‘No massages within working hours’ in my life ever again…!!
And, of course, once all the racing has ended and the fancy afternoon tea is all gone, there’s still one thing left – Rudimental!! I’m a massive fan of Rudimental and have seen them before but I had to get myself up to London and battle the traffic to get out! Nightmare! It’s great to have these concerts so close to home.
So find a bow tie, your most beautiful but uncomfortable shoes and head down to Newbury next weekend – there’s something special on!
