01. New Road Bridge
This bridge over the railway line will provide new access to the racecourse as a key part of the improved road network and a more impressive sense of arrival. This will make a huge difference to the ease of getting in and out of Newbury and will become the major route into the racecourse, reducing traffic loads into all of the car parks.
07. Horsewalk Apartments and Housing
Backing onto the horsewalk approaches from the stables and the racetrack, these include c.150 private and affordable apartments as well as 12 terraced houses. Construction of these will take place in 2015 and 2016.
08. Western Gateway Area
This area will feature the relocated Rocking Horse Nursery and Stable Staff Hostel, brand new buildings offering the very best facilities. It will also feature the new Owners & Trainers car park and dedicated entrance. This work is due to be completed in 2015.
Starting from the western end, this phase of work will be carried out from late 2015 and will see major benefits for racegoers. There will be significant relandscaping around the stands creating a greener, more attractive environment. A new parade ring will be designed as a natural amphitheatre, ensuring better sightlines and a more picturesque setting for winning owners and trainers. There will also be new saddling boxes and main entrances from the centre of the course and eastern car parks.
10. Eastern Car Parks
The new bridge means that customers will arrive at the Eastern end of the racecourse and park in these car parks, located north and south of the Central Area Apartments.
