Simply Red to headline on Weatherbys Super Sprint Day at Newbury next July

Newbury Racecourse announced today that one of Britain’s favourite bands, Simply Red, will be performing after racing on Weatherbys Super Sprint Day, Saturday 16 July 2016. Thirty years after bursting into the charts with ‘Money’s Too Tight To Mention’, Mick Hucknall and his band have sold 60 million albums and had top ten hits in the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

After a five year break from touring, Simply Red are back, with a world tour and a brand new album ‘Big Love’ and will be appearing at Newbury Racecourse for the third time, following hugely popular performances in 2009 and 2010.

As Mick Hucknall prepares to set off on one of the biggest tours of Simply Red’s career, he said:  “We’re called Simply Red for a reason. I want to keep it simple. Our fans know who we are. They have been loyal to us. Now I’m ready to go out there and give them what they want.”

Julian Thick, Newbury’s Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce that Simply Red will be back at Newbury Racecourse next summer. They attracted large crowds here on both of their previous appearances and their popularity is as high as ever, so we’re expecting a huge crowd next July to see them perform after a day of high quality racing action.”

Tickets will be available online from 9.30am on Friday 23 October at www.newburyracecourse.co.uk and by telephone from Monday 26 October by calling 01635 40015 during office hours.
